The third race of the 2014/15 Winter Fell Series, I would suggest having windproof top, leggings, hat and gloves just in case.

Sally,Marcia, Ian B, Ceri, Richard W, Andy W and I did this.
This is the kind of turnout I will expect for the rest of the series.

Dom

Well that was an "interesting experience" like nothing I have ever done before which I guess is a good thing at my advanced age :)

Do they publish results on the web, or were the big pieces of yellow card it?

Ian

Marcia was descending like a woman possessed, impressive.

Yes, that was fun. Calves and quads are not as bad as expected today!

Looking forward to getting fitter and stronger and not getting beaten by Dom

I was surprised to see you where I did Sally, I think with a bit more downhill practice you would have got away.
The next one (Skirrid) connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/415595475 features a more runnable ascent and a really fast downhill, in terms of how much speed and rhythm you can maintain from the top to the finish, I think only The Kymin and Blaenbran are comparable but the initial descent off the top of the Skirrid is more like the initial cliff at Blaenbran.
Well done to Ian for having a go in at the deep end and I wonder how his stair climbing is going today.

Great to see such a good turn-out from the club.

Ceri: when you say Marcia was descending like a woman possessed, was it like in The Exorcist, with a 360 degree head rotation? :silly:

I shall be composing a song "Ouch - the Virgin Fell-runners blues" !

Moderate discomfort Sunday morning and foolishly thought will run it off with a gentle jog - that was a mistake.....

Monday morning have lost all use of my calf muscles - which actually makes driving a car quite tricky.

Bizarrely - still want to have another go at skirrid :)
